Our mission is to make a lasting and positive impact, primarily though education-related projects, in the towns that host the Absa Cape Epic and the Cape Odyssey sporting events.

The Big Tree Foundation is the official charity of the Absa Cape Epic and the Cape Odyssey sporting events. From the inception of both of these events, mechanisms were put in place to benefit a far wider audience than just the participants.

The goal was for the events to leave a positive legacy. Now the Big Tree Foundation is setting about doing exactly that, bringing hope to the children in the towns and rural communities hosting the races.

We believe education is the key to changing the future of these communities. Working to support the schools and educators, we act to improve conditions both in and out of the classroom ? from provision of the means of getting learners to school, to the desks they sit at, the stationery they use and the clothes they wear.

How to eat an elephant? One piece at a time. (A cliché, yes, but true.)
